What to Expect
During this guided planting day, you will:
Help plant a mix of food and medicine plants in the nsisúlaʔxʷ Food Forest
Learn basic principles of Indigenous food forests and permaculture-inspired design
Spend time on the land with community digging, laughing, and moving at a steady, shared pace
Support the long-term vision of an organic, Indigenous food forest on Syilx territory
No prior gardening or permaculture experience is required just a willingness to learn, sweat a little, and care for plants.
What to Bring
To keep yourself comfortable and safe on the land, please bring:
Sturdy footwear (work boots or solid shoes – the property has uneven/rough terrain)
Weather-appropriate clothing (layers you don’t mind getting dirty, hat, gloves if you like)
Personal water bottle (we recommend bringing extra water)
Snacks or a light lunch for yourself
We’ll have some simple snacks available (like fruit/veg, pepperoni, cheese, etc.), but please bring anything specific you need for your own comfort and energy.
Who This Is For
People who want a hands-on way to support an Indigenous food forest
Folks curious about permaculture, Indigenous agriculture, and land stewardship
Families, friends, and individuals looking for a meaningful way to spend a day outside
If you’re excited by the idea of leaving the day with dirt under your nails, a happy body, and more plants in the ground than when you arrived, the Planting Blitz is for you.
