What to Expect
Each Wednesday, we’ll:
Focus on weeding, mulching, and general plant care in different zones of the food forest
Learn to recognize key weeds vs. food and medicine plants
Talk about seasonal needs, what the land is asking for at this particular time
Move at a gentle pace that honours bodies, weather, and capacity
You don’t need any gardening experience to join, just a willingness to learn, listen, and help. You’re welcome to stay for the whole morning or just a portion; every bit of help supports the plants.
420-Friendly Space
Weed Party Wednesdays are 420-friendly for adults. Once minors are present on site, there will be designated zones for smoking so that families, youth, and all participants can feel comfortable and safe in the space. We ask everyone to be respectful, discreet, and mindful of wind, proximity, and consent.
What to Bring
To be comfortable on the land, please bring:
Sturdy footwear (the terrain is uneven in places)
Weather-appropriate clothing you don’t mind getting dirty (layers, sun hat, rain gear as needed)
Personal water bottle
Snacks for yourself if you’ll be staying a while
Optional: gardening gloves, kneeling pad, favourite hand tools (we will have some tools available)
Who This Is For
Folks who want a regular, low-pressure way to support an Indigenous food forest
People looking for gentle, outdoor movement and community connection
Learners curious about weeds, soil, and seasonal plant care
Those who just like starting their Wednesday with fresh air, good company, and a bit of sweat
If you love the idea of midweek mornings spent outside, with dirt on your hands and fewer weeds in the ground than when you arrived, Weed Party Wednesdays are for you.
